Overview of I Ching

Introduction

The "I Ching" is one of the most important philosophical classics in ancient China, hailed as the "foremost of all classics." Through its system of eight trigrams and sixty-four hexagrams, it reveals the laws governing the changes of all things in the universe.

The "I Ching," also known as the "Zhou Yi," is an ancient classic that encompasses philosophy, divination, science, and other attributes. The character "Yi" has three meanings:

  • Simplicity: The great truth is simple; the laws of all things are actually very simple, and complex matters can be simplified.
  • Change: Everything in the world is constantly changing.
  • Constancy: Although all things are changing, the laws of change themselves remain constant, truth remains constant, and the inherent principles of things remain constant.
